4-3-3: The Manchester United XI to take the points at Chelsea – With and Without Carrick

tactics-board1

On Fire

After a performance which reminded us of the golden era at Manchester United, it’s hard to imagine Louis van Gaal making any changes for the Chelsea game, unless forced upon him by injury.

We had asked the question about whether Angel di Maria should start against Manchester City. But Ashley Young’s stand out performance answered that question with interest.

When Di Maria came on he had a few shots when he could have passed to colleagues. Young is the opposite. He’s a team player first and an individual second. His transformation has been remarkable.

So all thoughts of changes will be focused on whether Michael Carrick, who hobbled off at the end of the derby with a tight calf, is fit or not.

This is a crucial one for Manchester United. Because, if they lose Carrick they will have to change personnel and possibly lose the fantastic balance of the team.

Blind would come into the anchor man role and Shaw would play at left back. With Carrick in the form of his life his omission could decide the tie so Manchester United fans will be praying for good news here.

Here are the two possible line ups. Manchester United fans: does the team virtually pick itself now?

No, Blind is very good at LB as u have seen in the previous. shaw has not proven anything good. use Jones in the holding midfield if carrick is not available and then Rojo and Smaling in the CB.

Blind combines very well with Young and Fellain, Shaw have not had a run of games and you can’t start him when playing with chelsea! to avoid losing that balance, Jones has to play Carrick’s role.smalling and rojo are good in CB.

I would play Rojo at left back, move Blind to center midfield. Leave Jones and Smailling at the center
    back
