Another of Fergie’s boys to leave the club at the end of the season as Manchester United’s revolution continues – report

Amos: Gone

Not good enough

We reported earlier in the week on how only 6 of the current Manchester United squad have played over 100 league games for the club. With Louis van Gaal making root and branch changes, that number could dwindle further as the summer approaches.

And latest repots suggest that another Manchester United player, signed on Fergie’s watch, could be leaving the club at the end of the season as his first team opportunities have been blocked by the big boys.

The Express reports:

MANCHESTER UNITED goalkeeper Ben Amos will leave the club at the end of the season, according to reports.

In truth, we would be more surprised if he stayed at Manchester United this summer. He started badly under LvG, being beaten from the half way line in preseason. And after just 7 first team appearances in 7 seasons in the seniors, his career would be better served by a move and a fresh start.

Amos is a decent keeper with a good frame and big presence between the sticks. But we have always felt that fellow Manchester United youngster Sam Johnstone has a better chance of making the grade at Old Trafford.

It’s always sad to leave a giant like Manchester United but Amos will have taken invaluable experience from training with some of the best keepers in the world, including Edwin van der Saar, David De Gea and Victor Valdes.
