Persistent reports seem to be pointing towards an imminent move for Andre Schurrle from Chelsea. With apparent interest from several parties, and a growing sense that The Stamford Bridge outfit could be open for business, the German international may well leave The Premier League before the end of this window. The Daily Mail reports:
Wolfsburg make £23m (29.9m) move for Andre Schurrle as club look to beat Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea forward’s signature
The report goes on to suggest that Chelsea are holding out for 39m Euros for a player that they signed for a comparatively small 23m just 18 months ago.
Schurrle has had a really good couple of years for club and country. He hit a creditable 9 goals for Chelsea in 43 games last season and was also one of the better performers for Germany in some really important cameo roles for the triumphant side in Brazil.
He is efficient on the ball, has great delivery and also possesses a lovely shot. But it’s perhaps his pace, or lack of, that let’s him down and separates him from a really top Chelsea winger. He could be likened, in his leggy gait, to a German Darren Fletcher.
But the fact that Chelsea will possibly sell him at a profit tells you that he has been unlucky not to become a more central figure in this side.
Let’s see some of his better moments over the last couple of years.
