He has only been signed to the club for a matter of days but the latest reports suggest that Manchester United are set to give a debut to their new signing Victor Valdes in the Fa Cup game against Cambridge on Friday evening.
Valdes, who joined Manchester United as free agent after a long period of recuperation from a serious knee injury, has won La Liga titles, Champions Leagues and even been part of World Cup winning squads. But he wouldn’t be human if he didn’t get a little nervous about stepping out for the first time for a club the size of Manchester United.
The Telegraph states:
Louis van Gaal is planning to hand Victor Valdes his Manchester United debut against Cambridge on Friday.
All the hype since the signing of such a high profile keeper is whether this is a prelude to the departure of the sensatioanl David de Gea. De Gea, 24, has been linked with a move back to Spain for some time, on the back of a string of brilliant performances for Manchester United over the last 18 months.
MANCHESTER UNITED’S BEST XI OF THE SEASON
But Louis van Gaal is adamant that they can both inhabit the same squad harmoniously. There is little doubt that De Gea is now the better of the two keepers. But, still only 32, Valdes has point to prove and didn’t come to Manchester United for an easy ride. This is a serial winner who wants the No.1 jersey.
It should be fascinating to see how this one pans out.

If you think Valdez is a replacement for De Gea then you’re stupid. He’s a world class backup for a world class starter. We have the best goalkeeping due in the world along side chelsea.
