‘A real honour to sign’ – Manchester United have completed another signing as the LVG revolution continues

After speculation over the last few weeks, since the lad was seen training at Manchester United, the club has finally signed Victor Valdes.

Manchester United’s Official Website ran the story:

Manchester United is delighted to announce that Victor Valdes has signed an 18-month contract with the option to extend for a further year.

“It is a real honour to sign for Manchester United. I would like to thank Louis van Gaal and the club for allowing me to do my rehabilitation and to train with the team at the Aon Training Complex. From my short time here I can already see this is a very special club. I worked with Louis van Gaal during my time at FC Barcelona and to have the opportunity to work with him here at Manchester United is a dream come true.”

The 32-year-old stopper suffered a serious knee injury in 2014 and has taken a long time to recuperate.

Now he is back to full fitness Manchester United have made their move in a transfer that will bring the futures of Anders Lindegaard and Ben Amos into sharp focus.

Indeed, some areas of the media have suggested that the move for Valdes may be the beginning of the end for David de Gea at Manchester United as the Spanish giants are reportedly circling for his signature.

But while we do feel that he will eventually move back to his homeland, we think that he will stay at Manchester United for this and next season at least.

Valdez is a true A-lister of modern football having won everything during his time at Barcelona.

He did only turn out 20 times for the Spain international side but had serious competition from the likes of Iker Casillas and Pepe Reina.

Providing he doesn’t cost the earth in wages this has to be seen as a positive move for Manchester United, who have immediately added serious depth to their goalkeeping line up.

Let’s take a look at Valdes in action. Manchester United fans: a good buy?
