‘Yes, 100%’ says Chelsea superstar when asked if he prefers his current role

What a guy

Cesc Fabregas has taken a bit of time to look completely happy and fulfilled again after the slightly troublesome move to Chelsea in the summer.

His history with Arsenal made it a bitter-sweet affair for him to join a big rival.

But he has begun to look settled and happy in the last couple of months. And what a signing he has been. Many of the plaudits will go to Diego Costa for Chelsea’s red hot start to the season. But Costa would be the first to admit that his amazing tally would not have been so impressive without the mercurial service of Fabregas – the man who looks like he’s playing in his slippers.

After a thrilling 5-0 win away at Schalke – a team who had genuine hopes of a win before the game – Fabregas talked like a man who felt that he really belonged at Chelsea. And his words seem ominous for the opposition:

“I am playing next to great players and they are playing very well and helping me. We have a very young, talented team.

And after playing all over the park in a troubled second spell for Barcelona the Spaniard said he loves playing in the 2 in front of the defence:

When asked if playing in a deep role alongside Nemanja Matic was his preferred role, Fabregas was emphatic: “Yes, 100 per cent. 100 per cent,” he replied.

“I feel more in control of the game, I touch the ball all the time, I feel happy, I go and get the ball from here, from there, I can go forward, Oscar drops deep. I feel free, I feel confident, I feel in control and that’s what I like the most in football.

Whether alongside Matic or in the hole behind Costa, Fabregas looks like one of the most dangerous player in the league every time he steps on the park right now. He’s in his absolute prime and Chelsea look as if they will benefit hugely.

Chelsea fans: an even better signing than Costa?

Great signing for us, he needed where he would be greatly valued and ease of responsibility, and that was given to him by chelsea. Barcelona loss is Chelsea gain. Chelsea will smash them like we did to Shalker 04 when they cross our part in champion league.
