After such a good result in the week the home defeat to an until recently hopeless Newcastle side stank. But don’t lose faith in Mauricio Pochettino just yet. We backed him to succeed and still think he’s going in the right direction.
He just needs a little more time from notoriously trigger happy Daniel Levy in order to get Tottenham firing consistently.
One player who Tottenham have already signed is tipped to join the club properly this January. The Guardian reports:
Dempsey’s club and international team-mate DeAndre Yedlin, on loan from Tottenham having been signed by Mauricio Pochettino during the summer, is likely to be summoned to London in January,
This will apparently also see the sale of Kyle Naughton to Swansea. With Kyle Walker injured long-term the right back spot has been troublesome for Tottenham this season. Eric Dier made a hash of it at the weekend, allowing Ameobi in for the equaliser straight after the break. And we have said before that Yedlin could be a real star in this team.
His pace is a great starting point. He’s also an amazing athlete who never stops running. But there is real quality in his game too. He’s not just a ‘head down’ speed demon. His technique and link up play is excellent and he’s careful in possession. Yedlin also has a great delivery on him.
At 21 he’s got a lot to learn but there is very little not to like right now and bringing him to Tottenham in January could be a masterstroke by Mauricio.
Let’s see some clips to whet the appetite. Spurs fans: can he make a difference to your season?
