Legend in the making

Many of the plaudits so far this season have gone to Angel di Maria. And rightly so. The Manchester United player of the month for September arrived in great physical shape and has hit the ground running in his new job.

The importance of Di Maria is that he makes vital contributions in the first half hour of games when results are shaped. He’s not one of these players who adds icing to the cake, scoring the fourth goal when the opposition is already beaten.

But, improbably, Manchester United bought an even better player in the summer. Although he has taken time to find his feet after a long lay off, it’s only a mater of time before Radamel Falcao explodes into life.

Anyone who has been out of the game for 9 months needs time to regain their match sharpness. Falcao has made some classy contributions and has provided two quality assists so far. But he has yet to get on the scoresheet.

That’s just a matter of time however. If the Manchester United fans are quietly pleased with the Colombian right now they ain’t seen nothing yet. Because we still believe that this guy will make history at Manchester United once he rediscovers the magic in his boots.

Falcao is coming. And once he gets the first goal the floodgates will open. We have a strong feeling that he will break his duck this weekend and go on to become the fastest player to score 100 goals for Manchester United, if he does sign the permanent contract that has been mooted this week.

Let’s remind ourselves of just how good this guy can be. Manchester United fans: better than Di Maria?
