Deadline day was a crazy one for Manchester United as they added Radamel Falcao to the ranks in a nail-biting finale to the window.
But, on month one, how are the new boys settling in?
Radamel Falcao – Was rightly eased into things by Louis van Gaal after the better part of a year on the sidelines through injury. Falcao will take time to feel the pulse of the English game and return to his best form. A marvellous left-footed delivery for Van Persie’s opener punctuated his full debut against Leicester in a match where he also hit a sensational, instinctive shot, which came off the crossbar. His full home debut, against West Ham last weekend, also saw an assist for RvP. A little surprising that he’s yet to score but few have any doubts that the floodgates will soon open – 7
Angel di Maria – The pick of the summer signings so far. He cost an awful but this guy is a game changer. His contribution down the left has been excellent and he scored a world class goal against Leicester. After a big summer his fitness can still improve and he has waned in the second half of games. But he’s a wonderful signing and will only improve – 8
Daley Blind – Showed his composure and passing ability in his debut against QPR but has been quieter since. Still only a few games into his Manchester United career he is finding his feet. Made some excellent interventions against West Ham when United were drown to ten men. Does he have the power and dynamism to become a world class holding midfielder? The jury is currently out – 6
Marcos Rojo – A bit hit and miss so far. Under little pressure against QPR he looked excellent, particularly going forward. With Luke Shaw now in the side can he become a first choice centre back? Started well against West Ham in that position. One reservation we have is that he seems to regularly hit the ball too hard in the pass. But pacey and athletic. 6
Earlier signings
Ander Herrera – Unfortunate to fracture a rib just when he was finding his feet. He sometimes dilutes his good work with an unforced error. Needs to improve but has shown promise and scored two more than Fellaini already. 7
Luke Shaw – A dodgy pass on his debut which led to Rooney being sent off. But, for our money, he was Manchester United’s most solid defender on the day. Will most definitely come good – 6
