Not this one again I hear you scream.

But we ask you not to shoot the messenger in this instance. Because Kevin Strootman is once again the subject of newspaper reports which suggest that he will move to Manchester United this winter.

And that rumour has come as a consequence of the Roma manager reportedly implying that the club will struggle to hold onto him if a big club like Manchester United comes in. The Guardian says:

Shopping in Italy is en vogue at the moment and Manchester United have been put on red alert after Roma’s manager, Rudi García revealed the club cannot prevent Kevin Strootman leaving in January. Ed Woodward is wiping away the saliva with 50-pound notes.

We definitely think that January will be a crucial period with regards to this transfer. If Manchester United are genuinely keen they will surely make a move in January rather than waiting until the summer.

That’s because it is their absolute priority to finish in the top four this season and the Manchester United midfield still looks a little thin. It may require another change of formation to fit him in. But his power, passing precision and dynamism would be a welcome addition to United’s midfield and may even be the ingredient which gets them over the line in terms of a top four finish.

While Daley Blind is doing a decent job at the base of the diamond Strootman is a much more influential box to box player who could really become an icon at Old Trafford. If Blind is Carrickesque then Strootman is more similar in style to Robson or Ince.

There is seldom smoke without fire in the transfer market and this one should come to a head in January.

Let’s see some of his highlights. United fans: Is Strootman a priority at this stage?
