It’s seldom easy to pull the wool over the eyes of the bookies. The internet, and indeed football stadiums, are replete with adverts selling the gambling dream and the advertising spend is perhaps so large because these guys make so much cash!
But we had to rub our eyes in disbelief when we saw Manchester United’s current title odds – 12/1 with some bookies!
We know that things have been bad at Manchester United and they have also started the season poorly. But, with one of the best coaches in the world and the new signings, Manchester United are surely the ultimate dark horse for the title.
With no European games to contend with they will strong and fresh every weekend. They will also improve week on week as the new players and system beds in.
We wonder whether Manchester United have ever been as long as 12/1 at this stage of a Premier League season. We would never promote gambling but we may well have a cheeky squid on this one because you can almost guarantee that these odds won’t stay this far out for much longer.
In fact, a big win at the weekend and the odds will surely start to come in.
We think that a cheeky double on United to win the league and cup – if available – could be one of the bets of the season.
