Tottenham eyeing proven class for January transfer – report

Proven Class

Mauricio Pochettino did some decent business in the transfer window and Tottenham got off to a good start. But that mauling at hands of Liverpool at White Hart Lane has again led some to believe that Tottenham could and should have invested more in in the summer.

We thought that they would definitely buy another striker and Jay Rodriguez was regularly spoken about in relation to a move.

With Roberto Soldado misfiring and main man Emmanuel Adebayor on the wrong side of 30 Tottenham’s plan must surely be to buy another striker in the short to medium-term.

You wouldn’t be surprised if they bought a central midfielder and a hitman in January.

And The Guardian today suggests that Tottenham may be looking to sign much-mooted Premier League target Klaas Jan Huntelaar.

‘The Hunter’ has just turned 31 but has scored loads of goals wherever he has played – 76 in 92 league games for Ajax, 60 in 101 for Schalke and 35 in 65 for Holland – and despite his age he remains a great finisher.

While many Tottenham fans would perhaps be slightly underwhelmed by the signing Huntelaar is still on top of his game. He’s a consistent finisher and a reliable squad member who scored one and assisted one at The World Cup in Brazil – The same stats as England’s best performer (statistically speaking) Wayne Rooney.

Tottenham will be looking for a younger striker to lead the line long term. But, right now, they need more quality up top and they could do worse than to bring Huntelaar to England in January.

Let’s see the lad in action. Tottenham fans: keen?
