It’s going top be a hectic day of rumours and counter rumours but, by the end of the day, it may become clear that Manchester United are waiting for Strootman.
The Telegraph reports that, while United aren’t completely ruling out a move for another midfielder today that their most likely path is to wait for Kevin Strootman of Roma.
Strootman has had a serious ligament injury and should start training again in November at the earliest. Informal talks are said to have already taken place between Manchester United and Roma in preparation for a January move.
The Telegraph says:
Kevin Strootman targeted by Louis Van Gaal for £25m January move to Manchester United
While many still hold out hope that Manchester United will bring in a top midfielder like Arturo Vidal on deadline day, a move for Strootman would mean that United have a midfield general in their ranks by January who, at 24, has many years of top football ahead of him. He would surely be LvG’s top choice.
Like Vidal, Strootman not only shields the back four imperiously but also has a great range of passing and loves to get forward and score goals. He’s very much the complete midfielder already.
Let’s take a look at the lad in a cation. Manchester United fans: can you see the club going for Strootman and another?
