Although murmurs coming out of Old Trafford are play down the idea of transfers on deadline day there is little doubt that Manchester United are still looking to, and still need to strengthen significantly in certain areas of their squad.
If the right player comes along at the right price then expect more money to be spent.
We think that, while the defence still looks shaky, Manchester Unite shave two quality players to come in in the shape of Rojo and Shaw.
They could do with a central defender of authority but the most patent need is in midfield where United are desperate for a combative holding man.
So the most desired signing today would have to be Arturo Vidal or William Carvalho, with Nigel De Jong the outside bet to arrive at Manchester United.
Vidal, if fit, would bring the sort of speed, dynamism and power that has been so lacking in the midfield over the last couple of years. Darren Fletcher has fought valiantly in there this season but he’s simply not a holding midfielder of the top level.
Vidal scores goals too, which makes him an even more mouthwatering prospect.
If Manchester United can’t do a deal on their terms then expect the talented Daley Blind to fill in as a midfielder until United go for Strootman in January. But we won;t rule out a midfield or defensive addition today.
Stay tuned folks!
