Manchester United have been trying and apparently failing to sign top players all summer.
But the worst case scenario would surely be to make no further additions before the end of the window.
We would much prefer Manchester United to now focus on younger talents with potential if they can’t get the household names that they are after.
Players like Memphis Depay and Koke should now be on Manchester United’s radar.
Another player who has been mentioned in relation to Manchester United over the last 24 hours is Benjamin Mendy.
The 20 year old Marseille defender rose to prominence with two excellent years at Le Havre before moving to the French giants last summer. He has also been well ahead of schedule at his second French club, notching up 22 league games in his first season.
He is also working his way up the ranks for the French national side, having played at every youth level up to U19.
The defender is massive for his age but also has the pace and mobility that comes with youth.
This guy wouldn’t necessarily provide an immediate solution in defence but he looks like a great prospect and Manchester United won’t be too perturbed by the initial reaction from Marseille. The Express says:
MANCHESTER UNITED have seen an offer for Arsenal target Benjamin Mendy knocked back by Marseille.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Manchester United fans: with the scouting network available to Louis van Gaal should he now be concentrating on younger players with potential?
