You might scoff at the suggestion that Tottenham have got the deal of the summer when you look at their transfer activity so far.
In terms of pure quality you would immediately look at players like Luis Suarez, Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez as the best purchases of the close season hitherto.
But, pound for pound, we think that the signing of DeAndre Yedlin is pretty much as good as it gets.
We have mentioned before that we are hugely impressed by this lad. Tottenham may have to wait a few months to see him in the first team, as he’s been loaned back to Seattle Sounders at least until the end of their season.
But, when you get a glimpse of him in a Tottenham shirt, you will know that you have signed a very special talent and a real bargain.
At 21 he’s got his whole career ahead of him. And, as with most top-level American athletes, this guy is fit as a fiddle. He’s got a huge engine and literally never looks tired.
But what really impresses us about him is his technique. He’s got a beautifully consistent delivery, a nice range of passing and loves to dribble with the ball. Combine that with his motor and you have a top talent on your hands. We genuinely believe that the sky is the limit for this lad. He could become one of the most accomplished American players of all time.
He’s obviously going to take time to assimilate into the fast-paced Premier League. But fitness will not be a problem for this lad and we predict big things for him.
