Tottenham given terms for transfer – report

Good investment

This one reminds us all that we are now at the business end of the silly season.

New Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has reportedly made eleven of his first-team squad available for transfer and if there is substance to these reports then Mau-Po will also be bringing in quite a bit of new talent before the window closes.

Three of the names on that list are Sandro, Dembele and Capoue and, bearing in mind that Morgan Schneiderlin has also been strongly linked with a move to North London this summer, we think it’s safe to assume that the club is pursuing an accomplished central midfielder who can break up attacks and keep things moving at a good pace.

Reports this week have implied that Tottenham may turn their attention to Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin as an alternative, or complement, to the Frenchman.

But the reported terms are pretty crazy.

Talksport reckons:

Inter Milan are demanding Tottenham pay £10million plus Roberto Soldado for their midfielder Fredy Guarin.

So Inter Milan want a player who was bought for £26m a year ago AND another £10m for a player who they don’t seem that keen on anyway. Silly season alert!

For starters we think that Pochettino may want to give Soldado one more year to prove himself. And Guarin would surely only command an outright price of around the £10m mark.

So the whole thing stinks. That’s not to say that Guarin wouldn’t be a decent addition. At 28 he’s got 51 caps for Colombia and has performed creditably for Inter for the last couple of years. He could do a decent job at Tottenham.

Let’s see him in action. Tottenham fans: keen, or not much better thane hat you already have?
