Mistake Alert

Reports have been servicing over the last few days that Chelsea are not only in the market for more players this summer, but that they are also still prepared to get rid of a few.

The Guardian today reflects on rumours which have been milling around over the last few days about a possible transfer of Chelsea’s young forward Andre Schurrle.

Football transfer rumours: Atlético to sign Chelsea’s André Schürrle?

The player found it difficult, in his first season, to become a central figure in the team. But he never let Chelsea down and scored 9 goals in 43 appearances – many of which were off the bench.

He’s a deceptively languid footballer and certainly doesn’t have the explosive pace, off the mark, of many Chelsea wingers past and present. But what he lacks in the sprint, he more than makes up for in his efficiency and quality of distribution.

Although he wasn’t a certain starter for Germany at The World Cup, every time he came onto the field of play he made a really positive impression and offered genuine goal threat.

We think that this will be a big season for the player at Chelsea if he does stay at the club. And we would be pretty surprised if Jose Mourinho decided that he was surplus to requirements. It would be a mistake to get rid.

Although Chelsea have wide men such as Salah, Hazard and Willian they could surely use Schurrle in what is bound to be a gruelling season at home and abroad.

We think Chelsea should most certainly keep the German international, not least because he will be absolutely full of confidence, having won The World Cup this summer,

At 23 he’s got loads of time on his side and we think Chelsea should hold onto him for at least one more year to see how things pan out.

Let’s have a look at the lad in action. Chelsea fans: would you rather hold onto Schurrle?

We gotta keep Schurrle. Apart from being a great winger we dont use him to his best position which is striker and god knows we need more fire power. Even with Schurrle we do. Costa will at sometime be either injured or suspended and it leaves us with a unfiring Torres and Drogs the supersub. If we could use Schurrle and Costa up front together getting the support of our attacking midfield that would be exciting. But we need another top striker anyways.

Jose would be an idiot to let Andre Schurrle go, and I do know he is a smart dude. The thought of letting Andre go is upsetting enough. Anyways I will stop watching Chelsea and trade off my season tickets if that happens.

Are you a child? This isn’t twitter mate. There’s no character limit. That being said, while I respect your opinion, I feel like winger is a better position for Andre. It allows him opportunities to score but takes advantage of his passing ability (see World Cup Final).
