Manchester United closing in on wide man signing – report

While Manchester United fans are waiting patiently to hear of news about major signings this summer, reports today suggest that Manchester United are also building for the future.

The Daily Star reports that Manchester United are at the head of the queue to sign a young wingback who has been on trial at the club of late:

MANCHESTER UNITED are closing in on the signing of Oscar Borg after the West Ham whizkid rejected a contract with the Hammers.

16-year-old Borg reportedly turned down West Ham’s offer clearing the path for Manchester United to swoop.

Borg, who has also been linked with Southampton, really impressed at West Ham last season in the youth sides.

He has been likened to Gareth Bale in terms of his ability to run with the ball at pace and with great penetration.

In other news relating to promising youngsters, Manchester United are also said to be keen on an unbelievable young prospect from Norway. This kid looks special and reports suggest that Real Madrid are prepared to pay £12 million for him – even though he’s only 15.

The Daily Mail says:

Martin Odegaard: The 15-year-old sensation from Norway eyed up by Real Madrid for £12million… and he’s already trained with Manchester United and Bayern Munich

European giants Bayern Munich and Manchester United have already seen Odegaard in action first-hand, welcoming the wonderkid to train with them last winter.

This has been a breakthrough season for the youngster in Norway and he’s played a dozen games for his side in a league which is half way through.

It is always so hard to tell whether these youngsters are going to fulfil all of their potential. But physically he already looks like he could play in a bigger league and Manchester United should definitely take a gamble on the kid if they do get a chance to buy.

Let’s take a look at the lads in action. Manchester United fans: would you be happy for the club to pay several million for such a youngster?
