It’s been a long time coming this summer but Tottenham may well be on the verge of their first major signing of the close season.
They have been in a battle for the services of Ben Davies but reports on Friday afternoon suggest that the player could complete a transfer to Tottenham over the weekend with a price set to be agreed today.
The left-back spot has been something of a problem for Tottenham over the last few years and they will hope, with the potential signing of Davies, that they can that hole for some time to come. At 21 years of age he’s been a stalwart of the Swansea side over the last two years and has already played 10 games for his country, Wales, at international level – he’s young but certainly has good experience and Tottenham won’t to be scared to throw him in at the deep end next season.
The Mirror says that a deal could be close:
Spurs are set to agree the £8 million fee today and then hope for the nod from the defender they have been chasing for weeks.
The 21-year-old was swaying towards a move to Merseyside and the chance of Champions League football this season.
But Spurs are now willing to bid more and meet Swansea’s demand for a guaranteed £8 million fee.
The 21-year-old Welsh international is believed to have been swayed by the promise of guaranteed first team football at White Hart Lane
Of course things can change quickly in the transfer market but Tottenham fans will be hopeful that this deal can be concluded quickly to ensure sufficient time for the club to concentrate on other areas of the squad – most notably up top where Spurs look short on quality and numbers.
Let’s see Davies in action. Tottenham fans: exciting deal, if it comes off?

Look at the big picture son, we’re looking at balancing out the squad ,addressing things that needs to be addressed ,systems over just mindless spending. We’re going into unchartered territory.Lets not take the bate from the media to start panicking Spurs fans are better then that. Allot of these players we bought last summer have much more to offer,we have a manager now who I can’t wait to see how he goes about improving things and this signing would represents something new at Spurs common sense, plus he looks like a good left back.
