Tottenham to break the bank for guaranteed class – report

We think that Mauricio Pochettino should concentrate on the forward line before he does anything else in the transfer market this summer.

Because the strikers in this squad are just not up to scratch by comparison with other Premier League teams who expect to be challenging for the top four come May 2015.

Of course Roberto Soldado has only been at the club for one season and he may explode into life under new management. He’s still a very good player despite a poor goal return for his big fee.

But, even if that does happen, Tottenham will need to add at least one more top forward.

Reports today suggest that Tottenham are about to make a bid for a classic number nine.

Romelu Lukaku has been linked to the club before and reports today suggest that Tottenham are prepared to pay £20m in an attempt to secure the services of the brilliant Belgian.

The Metro says:

Tottenham are set to launch an ambitious £20million offer for Romelu Lukaku – after the striker told Chelsea he wants to leave for good this summer.

Spurs are long-term admirers in the player and made an approach to sign him at the end of last season, only to be told by Chelsea that no decision has been made on the player’s future.

Having only played a bit part in The World Cup – he lost his place in the starting line up to Divock Origi – Lukaku will feel that he still has lots to prove. But he’s had a couple of superb seasons in The Premier league scoring lots of goals at clubs outside of the elite.

It’s not as if he’s been banging in goals for a side that is in The Champions League. He’s done the business at Everton and West Brom where goal scoring isn’t taken as a given.

We think that Lukaku is tailor-made for The Premier league with his pace, power, running ability and lovely touch.

It’s a no-brainer and Tottenham should do all they can to sign the player this summer, because he’s proven Premier League quality.

Let’s have a look at the Belgian in action. Tottenham fans: should this be the number one target for the summer?

If he’s itching about CL then forget about him.
Since most of the target decline to join Spurs keep Adebayor and Soldado.
Who knows they work wonders under Pochettino.

Who is the player with guaranteed class? The only two you have mentioned are a World Cup flop and a kid who doesn’t know how to run channels.

You certainly have very low standards if you consider either to be ‘class’.

We have a lot more problems in defence than in attack. A goal saved is as good as a goal scored – and we let in way too many, last season. Lloris needs a proper back four to work with – not a collection of clowns. I’d rather spend 25 million securing a couple of quality centrebacks and a left back, for starters. New strikers are the icing on the cake – but without a cake, what is the point of icing? To fix this team, we need to work our way from the back to the front. With the right kind of pressing game in place, Soldado, if he stays, will get plenty of balls in the right area, to exploit. The rest is just a matter of confidence. Apart from a late, late substitute’s appearance, Lukaku has looked rubbish at the World Cup. Granted, he did okay for Everton – but if he was as great as you imply, Mourinho would not keep loaning him out.

Firstly Lukaku is exactly what Tottenham need he can create a goal from nothing, ive always admired his ability and I think that he will become an outstanding player and is definitely worth £20m the reason mourinho doesn’t want him is because he likes big names stars, he doesn’t create a good player he buys them.

Lukaku would be a star at spurs and to have a Belgium in defence, midfield and upfront would be good communication and chemistry between the 3.

Secondly yes our back 4 is the biggest problem I think Man City and Liverpool made that clear :/

We’ve got central vertonghen and chiriches walker on the right we need a good left back someone like coentroe who could bring a little class to the back and we need maybe a new centre back to team up with vertonghen having said that chiriches isn’t too bad when hes in form and fit.

Dawson, kaboul and rose are good as bench warmers and good enough for the early games of the europa league.

Erik Lamela will be our star next season and will prove his worth the money. Trust me.

Soldado when getting the right ball in the right places will score goals but his confidence is so low hopefully he will overcome this.

Adebayor is too expensive hes like a Ferrari running on empty.
Yeah hes good and can be incredible but he runs out of that power and drive to do well and hes not a true yiddo.

Their is one player I know that will deliver and that is the amazing Christian Eriksen he had the best first season for us and we need more players like him!

Overall if we make the right signings we can strengthen and build our way to cup finals and top 4 however its going to be tougher than last year united will come back running on all cylinders United, City, Chelsea and arsenal are definitely gonna be our competitors for fourth I think Liverpool wont be a problem Everton will go back to mid table they got lucky last season.

I personally think once again arsenal will be our battle for fourth AGAIN but its a battle that we have to win for once North London needs to be white not red!
