Tottenham now bookie favourite to sign brilliant striker

Hotshot got the lot?

Ever since manager Mauricio Pochettino was confirmed as the new Tottenham manager speculation has been rife about who he might bring into the club. Specifically, who he might bring in with him from Southampton.

The Saints had a fantastic season and could well turn out to be victims of their own success as several of England’s biggest clubs are said to be circling for their best talent.

We say that it’s very sad indictment of the game. But it’s been happening all across Europe for years – the cream is drawn to the top by the biggest cash offers.

And one such player who has been linked with Tottenham is Jay Rodriguez. After spells in Scotland, and with Burnley in The Championship, Rodriguez had a breakthrough season in The Premier League last season, scoring 17 goals in 39 games for his club, and coming to the attention of England manager Roy Hodgson. Indeed if he hadn’t been injured in the spring he may well have been training with the England lads in Miami right now.

Bookmakers SkyBet have made Tottenham clear favourites to sign Jay Rodriguez this summer, following the news that Pochettino has taken the reins at the club, at odds of 6/4.

Tottenham are patently short of top-quality strikers right now and Roberto Soldado has been linked with a move away from the club this week.So you can easily imagine Rodriguez being courted by Tottenham this summer.

Let’s have a look at some of his highlights. Tottenham fans: is Rodriguez good enough?

Who actually gives a flying f**k what the bookies, papers or random bloggers think? There are far better forwards Spurs can go after than Jay Rodriguez that’s a fact. He’s better off at Southampton.

He’ll do for one. Now we need to acquire one more. (Lukaka, Benteke, Chicarito. & move Ade out.

Holy sh*t. With the exception of Lukaku, all of those strikers are worse than Adebayor. You’re not Comolli in disguise, are you?

I do hope that Spurs have set their sights higher than any Southampton players, Tottenham are a top 6 club who get European football every season, there were 90 odd teams below them and only 5 above them, that does mean they are one of the top teams in the country irrespective of what a 13 year old Southampton supporter says……

You get the Europa monkey league each season – a competition that the big clubs look upon with contempt, yet you boast as if it’s some sort of achievement. You pour scorn and look down your nose at the thought of signing a player from Southampton – yet the last player you signed from them was some chap called Bale – whatever happened to him? Just highlights that you have been and always will be the most deluded ill informed fans in the country. At least you’re the best at something…

I don’t care where he comes from, so long he has an impressive record.
Roders has that for Ston, so can you imagine what he will be like with our midfield, thinking mainly of Eriksen. He will be a goal machine!

Funny how you boys love you’re europa league so much that you’ve got yourself a manager who has publicly said he doesn’t like it, can’t rotate a team, has only one formation and no plan B when its going wrong. Only 16 points taken off the top ten teams last season with Southampton and threw an FA cup game to avoid the Europa league. Have fun boys at least you’ll all be getting a new christmas present, you never know it might even be Moyes xx
