Manchester United begin a four match sequence with the legendary Ryan Giggs in charge of his beloved club. There has been intense speculation linking Giggs with the permanent manager’s role but whether or not he would want to jump straight in at the deep end remains to be seen.
What we do believe is that a management team with him, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes and Sir Alex to call on for advice would be a great bet for success at Manchester United. We would sooner have them in charge than the veteran talents of van Gaal or Ancelotti – regardless of experience.
If Giggs oversees big wins between now and the end of the season, as we suspect he might, then it can only make the decision even more difficult for the Manchester United board.
The sense is that they will play safe and get an experienced guy in but we think that The Class of 92 could do a remarkable job between them and really take ownership of this team going forward.
It should be a fascinating game in this context. With Mata on the bench and Fellaini not even in the squad, Giggsy has made a big statement already.
