Without wishing to tempt fate you get the sense that the gods may be smiling on Manchester United and that the scales have been tipped a little in their favour since prior to the first leg. Here are five bits of positive news ahead of The Big One.
Toni Kroos – Reports suggest that Kroos has told his team mates he wants to join Manchester United in the summer. He didn’t have a huge impact on the first leg but he’s a top player and has his best years ahead of him.
Wazza – The Big man looks likely to play after injuring his toe last week. Words struggle to describe his importance to Manchester United.
Valencia – There have been question marks over his fitness and Manchester Untied desperately need his pace on the counter down the right flank on Wednesday. Bayern boss Pep Guardiola reckons that he’s fit for the game. He said: “He is going to play, 100%. He is going to play – I bet you a big, big glass of beer. I believe he is going to play, and Valencia too.
Fellaini – We wouldn’t wish injury on anyone but the fact that he didn’t train on Tuesday means that he may not make the game. At this point we think that would be a big bonus. Fellaini may still become a top Manchester United player but he’s more of a liability at the moment – with those elbows of his.
Giggs – Did train and we would be more than happy for him to take Fellaini’s place alongside Carrick. If Rafa is fit at right back, Jones may well get the nod in defensive midfield though.
