Tottenham won’t be making the number of changes that they did last summer – chairman Daniel Levy has suggested that he will strengthen in key positions but not initiate another ‘major upheaval’ in relation to the playing staff at the club.
But they will add one or two stellar names if they become available – with Defoe off and Soldado off the boil, Tottenham could concentrate on their front line.
One player who has been regularly linked over the last two years is Romelu Lukaku. He’s had a super season on loan at Everton from Chelsea, scoring 13 in 26 games for the club, and Jose Mourinho doesn’t seem that keen on the Belgian despite his stylistic similarities to Didier Drogba.
In our view this either means that Jose doesn’t think he works hard enough or he hasn’t got a good enough first touch.
Anyhoo, The Daily Mail reports that a summer deal could well go ahead:
Romelu Lukaku will be allowed to join Tottenham this summer – but only if Chelsea land £31.5million target Diego Costa from Atletico Madrid.
Jose Mourinho will look to revamp his forward line ahead of next season, with Atletico hotshot Costa top of his list.
Lukaku would be a sensation at Tottenham. He’s like a new improved Adebayor – similarly good technique but even more of a handful for defenders and he tends to go missing less than Tottenham’s current number 9. We think that this guy can make all the difference in tight games.
Let’s see him doing what he does best.
