Tottenham ready to submit whopping bid for World Beater – report

Big news

Now this one is exciting. Tottenham’s season has been punctuated by the form of Emmanuel Adebayor and the slightly disappointing introduction of Roberto Soldado at great expense.

While Adebayor isn’t the long term answer, at the age of 30, it seems that his ore physical style suits the team and league a little better than that of Soldado – although we still think that the Spaniard has lots to offer.

The upshot is that Tottenham will probably be doing more business for forwards come the summer. The Metro this morning links Tottenham with a very exciting signing indeed:

Tottenham are ready to test Chelsea’s resolve by making a £18million summer bid for striker Romelu Lukaku.

Spurs are on the lookout for a new striker at the end of the season, with Tim Sherwood having let Jermain Defoe leave for Toronto, while £26million ace Roberto Soldado has failed to hit the ground running.

The big but balletic Belgian has been one of the success stories of The Premier league over the last year and has done a sublime job at Everton after Chelsea, rather surprisingly, let him go out on loan for a second season.

He’s scored 12 in 24 for Everton before he was injured this season and bagged 17 in 38 games for West Brom in 2012/13. He’s a predator but so much more.

The Telegraph also ran the storry:

Tottenham Hotspur have made Romelu Lukaku, Chelsea’s £25 million-rated striker, one of their top summer transfer targets.

He would be a superb signing for Tottenham, at once adding craft and graft up front. But we feel that there could be serious competition for his signature.

Let’s see the lad in action.
