Manchester United ‘close in’ on Wonderkid

Not even David Moyes would know exactly how his squad will look by the start of next season. He will have his major targets and also players that he will want to sell on. But so much can happen between now and then that the net of potential transfers will be cast very wide.

One of the main areas of concern for Manchester United is their engine room – the midfield looks fairly thin right now. Many high profile names have been thrown around but this afternoon brings reports of a new name in the hat.

The Metro reports:

Manchester United are considering a move for Tottenham wonderkid Nabil Bentaleb at the end of the season.

Bentaleb is currently enjoying a breakthrough season at White Hart Lane, having been promoted to the first-team by Tim Sherwood following his appointment as manager.

At just 19 the midfielder has forced his way past several more established international team mates to find a regular place in the side under Tim Sherwood.

But, with so little experience under his belt you would have thought that the player would want to settle into life in The Premier League before even considering a move. Similarly, while David Moyes has reportedly asked his Manchester United scouts to monitor the player, it would represent something of a gamble to extricate one so tender from his budding role at Tottenham.

Nevertheless the report suggest that Manchester United may make an offer in the summer for a player thought, already, to be worth in the region of £10m.

Let’s see the lad in action. Manchester United fans – would this guy make a difference to the midfield?
