At least you can’t say that it’s ever boring at Manchester United. Be it new trophies, new managers or superstars wanting in or out, there is never dull moment at Old Trafford.
After a shockingly bad season the new line is that Manchester United are to spend a fortune on new players in the summer. The Daily Mail says:
Moyes is understood to want up to eight new signings to revive the struggling Barclays Premier League champions after a disastrous season.
So, if it’s true that he wants eight, who are they? We run the rule over the most-linked and, in our opinion, most likely summer arrivals:
Seamus Coleman
Moyes’s £60k signing from Sligo Rovers has been a sensation at Everton and would cost an 8 figure sum to urchase now – if he wanted to leave his current club. He’s a really good, adventurous player, but surely no better than Rafa da Silva?
Luke Shaw
Chelsea and Manchester United seem to take turns to be favourites for the signature of this lad. At 18, the Chelsea fan is as close as you will get to a sure thing. 15 years of top service means his price is peanuts.
Eliaquim Mangala
Do not. I repeat. Do not insult this guy’s girlfriend. He is a remarkable, frightening physical specimen who can do the dirty work but also has super feet – hence the astronomical fee that he will surely command.
Toni Kroos
The pick of the lot? Kroos is a goal scoring midfielder of the highest quality. The biggest concern for Manchester United is that, if he does leave Munchen, there will surely be a list of suitors as long as your arm.
Ilkay Gundogan
Manchester United have been strongly linked with this box-to-box maestro. Has been injured for most of the season and Real are also reportedly keen. But it would be worth the effort to land him as he knits defence and attack together in a way that would benefit Manchester United hugely.
Edinson Cavani
If the stroppy Dutchamn does leave Manchester United this summer then expect the club to pursue this sensational marksman. But, again, they won’t be the only interested party. Because this guy is mustard.
Andros Townsend
Manchester United need more pace. Even if they don’t persist with a 4-4-2 and wingers then Townsend would add the sort of excitement factor currently missing at the club. He would have the fans off their seats. We just love to see him on the ball. Surely off to Brazil.
Carlos Mane
Sporting Lisbon youngster Mane has been linked to Manchester United and heralded by some as The Next Ronaldo. Even The Next Darren Fletcher would do right now!

8 new players? That rings a bell….exactly the amount of players Sir Alex claimed Liverpool need to mount a title challenge this season. Oh the irony.
