In the main, Tottenham have been grinding out results without playing particularly like Tottenham. But, as we have said before, at this stage of the season noone will really care.
The fact is that Tottenham are doing the best impression of a team that wants to get into the top four, of anyone outside it – Norwich and Hull have taken points off Spurs but everyone around them is also struggling.
Few really know what will happen beyond May. If Tim Sherwood does get his side into The Champions League he will surely earn the chance to have another crack at managing Tottenham next season. In this eventuality he is said to be lining up various summer transfers.
Although we don’t believe that this one has a great chance of happening, it would be a superb signing for Tottenham. The Metro reckons:
Tottenham are eyeing up a move for Everton forward Kevin Mirallas ahead of the summer transfer window.
Spurs boss Tim Sherwood is in the process of identifying potential targets for next season, with the club expected to be busy when the window re-opens.
We think that Mirallas is one of the outstanding footballers who doesn’t currently play for a top four club. Known as ‘Ronaldo of The Poor’ for the similarity in playing style with The Portuguese superstar, he’s got a bit of everything – he can dribble, pass, shoot and even put in a decent tackle. He’s a big lad with fleet feet – pretty much perfect for The Premier League then.
At 26 he’s at the top of his game. But we think that it would take an inordinate effort for Tottenham to prise away one of Everton’s top players. With Roberto Martinez doing such a convincing job at the helm of the Merseyside club, the player may decide to stay where he is, unless a ridiculous offer comes in.
Let’s see the lad in action. Tottenham fans – does Mirallas boil your tatties?
