Manchester United: Why hasn’t Moyes been sacked? 5 reasons he HAS to go NOW

Bad decisions all round

Some think it’s commendable that David Moyes has been given time to ‘get things right’ at Manchester United despite an appalling run of results and performances that have never been witnessed by many fans of the club.

We understand the idea of giving someone time if they are showing some signs of doing good work at the club. Any good work at all. But, in our view, Moyes is failing in every area of managing Manchester United.

Team Selections

Young, Valencia, Cleverley, Smalling. The latter was probably the worst on the pitch on Tuesday but he may improve over time and when played in his preferred role. As for the others, even a casual observer could tell you that they are rubbish. Manchester United fans have been crying out for them to be omitted from the team. But Moyes keeps picking them. In the biggest games! It’s absolute madness.

Formations

Everyone can see that Manchester United no longer have top conventional wingers – players who are lighting quick, have a trick and love to get their boots white. Most would agree that Young, Valencia and Nani just aren’t up to scratch. So why play something resembling a 4-4-2? And why continue to pick these players when decent ones like Kagawa are sitting on the bench and top players like Januzaj aren’t even in the squad?

General Decision Making

Moyes used his best performer of the season, Adnan Januzaj, against Crystal Palace at the weekend with Manchester United highly unlikely to finish top four. He then rests him (although Manchester United have no game for ten days) for a game which is absolutely crucial to the club’s season. You simply can’t expect to manage Manchester United for long if you make these sorts of calls.

Money Spent

Around £65m so far on Fellaini and Mata. The first has been beyond poor. The second signing was commendable but only if you have a strong idea of where you are going to play the guy. Leaving him marooned out on the right wing of, you guessed it, a 4-4-2 is criminal. Do you trust him to spend a load more of Manchester United’s hard earned?

Personality

In our opinion Moyes doesn’t have the personality to inspire people. We genuinely feel sorry for the guy. But he shouldn’t keep his job based on sympathy from the club or wider public. 3 wins out of 12 games in 2014 is simply not good enough. It’s not getting batter. It’s getting worse.

We think that the situation is getting ridiculous and cannot understand why Manchester United are retaining the services of David Moyes. He has to be sacked before things can improve.

Any other club would have sacked their manager on this form. Manchester United may say that they aren’t just ‘any’ club. But they will be if they carry on on this trajectory.

Well said. I also feel sorry for the guy. He’s just not a top tier manager. Everton was the perfect spot for him. Just watching the game Tuesday I don’t even think that they would beat Barnstonworth United on that form. I get the feeling that he has lost the dressing room completely, and once that happens there is no turning back. How can a group of superstars ever identify with a manager that is not a winner? It has to effect the performance levels. We were just woeful the other night and quite frankly embarrassing. The guys just look disinterested. Some of this squad just have to go:
    Young – Crap
    Valencia – Crap
    Cleverley – Complete Crap
    Nani – Crap
Giggs – Legend but time waits for no man
    Ferdinand – Times up
Vidic – Opted out (understandably) but I would keep him
Evra – Great servent (I would keep him as a mentor if we got Luke Shaw)

I just can’t do this any more. I’m too upset. I have supported United since 1966 and it has never been this bad. Don’t get me wrong, it has been bad, but there was always a light at the end of the tunnel, but I just don’t see one here. Even when we were relegated to the old second division you knew that we would be straight back up, but here with the vast amounts of money available at other clubs it is going to be extremely difficult to get back from just mid table mediocrity.

Sorry guys, I’d better shut up now.

Totally agree. One thing I don’t understand is why did the Glazers (or Fergie) give Moyes a SIX year contract??? That’s ridiculous and utter madness!! What on earth were they thinking about? Even Mourinho was offered only a FOUR year deal by Chelsea.

Pls sack Moyes now and spare United of these brushes. Keeping Moyes is to the detriment of the Club.He is not a top tier manager and nothing good will ever come out of him. It is better for United to go managerless than to keep such a man who does not have passion for success and trophies. Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Roy Keane or David Beckham will do better in management than David Moyes. Sack him now and get United back on tract. There is a growing frustration among United fans and so many have switched to other clubs because of his inconsistency and poor tactics. Get rid of him now and bring in a top tier manager who will continue from the footstep of Sir Alex Ferguson. I love United and not a fan of David Moyes

Firstly, I have no sympathies for Moyes. He knew what the job entailed before he agreed to take it.
Secondly, the players have all been at the club for a number of years except for Kagawa and if Moyes believed the squad needed strengthening then why did he not do so?
    * Yes I know he made enquiries but the players he wanted were unobtainable and he should have moved on and enquired about players who were available!
Thirdly, removing all the personnel who knew United inside out only to bring in ‘outsiders’ disrupted the status quo. Training methods were changed. Tactics were changed and most of all the players were in and out of the team almost on a match by match basis, so little if any continuity.
All in all Moyes has brought about a total disruption of the most successful team in Britain by his meddling, lack of tactical nous and taking on a job for which he had no qualifications for.
Everton had not won anything for 20 years or so and Moyes was manager for 11 of those years!
So why did United employ a loser?
To conclude: Moyes MUST go and go now giving his replacement the time to look at the squad, make recommendations as to who should be bought in the Summer and prepare United for a return to their customary position, as one of Europe’s top teams.
United being an also-ran team does not fit well with the scheme of things and does not fit well with any United fan either.
The Glazers are known to be hardliners but will they be hard enough in this case and admit they made a huge mistake in employing Moyes?
Time will tell. I just hope it is very soon!

I really think Moyes has to go. It’s not just the individual performance of the players on the pitch. In the past, even with poor players in the 11, they still win games. They had confidence and spirit. Now, even if they play the really best 11 and have no injuries, they are lucky to win. The whole atmosphere is wrong. Maybe there’s nothing wrong with Moyes at all, but something is wrong as a whole. It’s panic time. Once the fans start turning on Moyes from the stands, it’s too late, and that will happen very soon. Then hell will break lose,
