Young Gem Linked to Tottenham

Tottenham have been mightily impressive, in terms of results, under new manager Tim Sherwood. Although we might not be seeing Tottenham at their most fluid and attractive right now, the new boss has certainly got them into the habit of winning.

And, if aesthetic beauty has to take second place to points for the rest of the season, few will mind. Because Tottenham have played beautiful football for years without getting consistent success. What Tottenham fans want this season is a top four finish. And if Spurs have to win ugly for the next couple of months, in order to get Champions League football then so be it.

When the season is done Tottenham can assess what they need to do in the market. The wide areas will be under scrutiny as record signing Erik Lamela looks like a dead man walking at Tottenham. A player who has been linked to Spurs as a possible replacement is the lightning quick Anderlecht forward Andy Najar.

Talksport today reports that the race for his signature is hotting up.

Valencia are ready to do battle with Tottenham and Hull City to sign Honduran ace Andy Najar after scouting the winger last month.

Spurs and Hull are both believed to be keen on the 20-year-old, who has been one of the standout players for Anderlecht in the Belgian league this season.

The report suggests that the flyer will be in the Honduras squad for The World Cup in Brazil. A few good performances here and his value will rocket. So perhaps Tottenham should move quickly if they really want this guy.

Eric Lamela does not look like a dead man walking. He looks like a 21 YO and an overseas player and would hardly be the first 21 YO or overseas player to take a while to settle – and he is both.
