Having been at White Hart Lane at the weekend to see Tottenham beat Everton there were few really stand out performers. It certainly won’t be remembered as one of Tottenham’s best performances of the season. But it was a vital three points nonetheless.
If you had to pick out the best performers on the day, from the players in white, it would have to be the acrobatic Hugo Lloris and the seldom less than solid Jan Vertonghen.
News reports today suggest that the Tottenham defender could be of interest to Barcelona. The Guardian reports:

Vertonghan, who signed for Tottenham for £10m, has been a revelation since he joined the club, both at left-back and in the centre of defence.
We wouldn’t be at all surprised if Barcelona were interested in the player because, we feel, he could play for any team in the world – he’s that good – technically brilliant but also no nonsense when he needs to be, Vertonghen is also well capable of scoring goals.
At the end of the day, any transfer would come down to the desires of the player. He seems happy enough at Tottenham and if they can get that fourth Champions Leagiue spot this season then you would imagine he would stay.
But if Tottenham finish outside the top four and Barcelona do come calling it might be squeaky bum summer for Tottenham fans.
