Last chance for Tottenham to sign a superstar

Tottenham must act decisively

Having seen Tottenham at first hand at the weekend we think that there is still much room for improvement. For long periods of the game Everton had the upper hand. They were quicker to the ball and stroked it around the park beautifully. Roberto Martinez really is massaging the best out of his squad.

Tottenham, by contrast, looked largely disjointed and sluggish. It was almost as if they had all just enjoyed a heavily belated Christmas lunch. But what they did have over Everton on Sunday was a cutting edge at the business end of the park. Emmanuel Adebayor looked off the pace but came alive at the vital time to score a brilliant goal for Tottenham.

Winning without playing particularly well is a very handy habit to get into. Manchester United built an empire on such qualities.

But Tottenham could do with additions to add spark and speed to their general play. One player who has been persistently linked with the club is Zagreb wonder kid Alen Halilovic. The Daily Mail today reports that the race for his signature is hotting up.

Dinamo Zagreb are trying to see if Premier League clubs can outbid Barcelona in the battle for teenage prospect Alen Halilovic.

Barcelona have already had a £3.2million bid rejected in recent days for the 17-year-old who has been studied closely by Tottenham and Manchester United over the past two years and been hailed as a player of even greater potential than Luka Modric.

If Barcelona come calling then players sit up and take notice. But what Tottenham can potentially offer the youngster is more immediate first team opportunities than he might expect in Spain.

It remains to be seen if Tottenham retain an interest in the player but they need to move fast if they want to secure his signature.

Let’s see the little genius in action. CLICK FOR HALILOVIC
