Firstly, we are well aware of Tim Sherwood’s recent quotes about Tottenham probably not doing any more business in this window. But he wouldn’t be the only Premier League coach to want to keep his cards close to his chest with 48 hours to go before the window closes.
“We’re not actually looking for anything,” he said. “Unless something drastic happens between now and the end of the window then we won’t be bringing anyone in.
We think that if an opportunity arises to strengthen the striking department, with a really good quality investment, then Tottenham would surely take it.
The Metro has just reported on Tottenham making a bid for one of their ex-players:
Tottenham make £1million offer to re-sign Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov
Tottenham are believed to have made a £1million offer to sign Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov ahead of the close of the transfer window.
Berbatov, who enjoyed a two year spell at White Hart Lane before leaving in 2008, has become frustrated with life at Fulham and asked to leave earlier this month.
There has been talk of Arsenal being interested in the player but we think that there is much more chance of him re-joining Tottenham. And we have to say that we are intrigued by the prospect of Berbatov going back to his old club.
After the manner in which he left Tottenham we think that he wouldn’t immediately be welcomed back unanimously by the fans. But if he put in 10 to 15 good performances in the second half of the season then all would surely be forgiven.
Berbatov played his best football whilst at Tottenham and at 32 is still in really good shape. He had a brilliant season at Fulham last time out but this season he has failed to spark. We think that his head may have gone down and he is seeking a move.
Let’s remind ourselves of his heyday at Tottenham. Tottenham fans, would you want him back?
