Team news Manchester United vs Cardiff

So here are the teams for the 1945 kick off:

Man Utd XI: De Gea; Rafael, Smalling, Evans, Evra; Valencia, Jones, Giggs, Young; Mata, van Persie

Cardiff XI: Marshall, Caulker, Hudson, John, McNaughton, Medel, Whittingham, Noone, Mutch, Bellamy, Campbell.

For Manchester United fans this must be one of the most eagerly awaited games in years. After missing out on too many stars names to mention, and signing a hitherto massively underwhelming star in the summer, David Moyes has flipped the aces with the signing of Juan Mata and Manchester United fans will hope that the brilliant Spaniard plays for a decent chunk of the 90 minutes tonight.

Manchester United desperately need to win this game if they have any designs at all on Champions League qualification through their Premier League place at the end of the season. If they don’t finish fourth there is always the possibility of winning The Champions League – but without Mata that will be even harder.

As for Cardiff, new manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will get a hero’s welcome at Old Trafford tonight as the man ‘who put the ball in the Germans’ net’. The new Cardiff man has been extremely busy in the market, including the plundering of his old club for Zaha on loan and Fabio, possibly permanently. If the Fabio deal is a permanent one then Cardiff have pulled off a major coup because this guy is ready to make his mark.
