We try not to use ‘goal-machine’ unless it’s a real goal machine that we’re talking about. Not someone with a one in three ratio. Not even a one in two man. We are talking about someone who people think is a bit freaky – a bit weird – because they score so many goals.
It sounds like exactly what Chelsea need now. If they do sell Juan Mata to Manchester United this winter then they may decide to have one more splurge in the market before they start their push for honours come spring.
And you imagine they would probably have that splurge on a forward player. Chelsea’s team is really coming together now but they don’t have a striker who sticks the ball in the onion bag anywhere near enough, considering the service that the forwards get.
Jose Mourinho has always liked forwards who can mix it with the toughest as well as having a great touch. Diego Costa is certainly one who fits into that category. No shrinking violet but also has a majestic first touch and eye for goal.
This guy is officially a goal-machine. He’s scored as many goals (23) as he’s played games this season. That’s a 1:1 ratio for those without calculators handy.
The Atletico Madrid man has scored 19 goals in 17 games in the league and it’s hard to imagine him not improving any team that he played for. At 25 he’s almost fully formed and we think that he fits the mould at Chelsea perfectly.
For much of the winter window Arsenal have been the favourites to sign the player with bookmaker SkyBet. But they have now brought Chelsea in to 3/1 while Arsenal have drifted way out to 25/1. Manchester United are now second favourites to sign the player at 10/1.
We think that Chelsea may have a cheeky flutter in the remaining days of the window and we wouldn’t be at all surprised if this guy featured. Let’s see the lad in action.

Please Mr Mourinho, let Mata go where ever he wanna go as long as they meet our price! If Man U come with £40m do not hesitate please! We’ve plenty options in his position;but with all due respect Sir,bring a top classe striker in! Not just a striker but a goal machine! That’s no other than DIEGO COSTA.

Letting Mata go is the ideal situation for everyone; For the player, considering that this is a world cup year. For the club to reduce the wage bill for a player not featuring regularly and for the fans who hold the player in high regards.
I would have preferred him going abroad though considering that United denied us having Rooney even when it was evident the player wanted the move.
Finally, the funds received from the sale must be immediately reinvested in the purchase of a quality striker while Ba should be offloaded.
