That’s it for Christmas for most us now isn’t it? Even if you are down to work on Monday and Tuesday, you will only be there in body. You may even sneak a hip flask in to the office for a cheeky festive sharpener every hour or so.
Some Manchester United fans would like a couple of humdingers against their main rivals on the fixture list over the festive season. But, with their form as it is, it’s probably just as well that Manchester United will be playing teams from lower down the division over Christmas. Surely Manchester United aren’t going to mess these ones up right?
Manchester United’s chances of beating West Ham tomorrow have been given a boost with news that Nani will be out for a few weeks. He’s been at the club for 7 years and had a decent spell a few years back.
But watching him play for Manchester United this season, he looks like a man from an old people’s home, who has somehow found his way onto the pitch at Old Trafford and is heavily confused. Confused and scared. Confused, scared and terrible at football.
There, there Nani. Let’s get you off the park and back into your slippers. It’s spam for tea! Your favourite!
In truth, I’d rather keep Nani than Ashley Young. Don’t get me wrong, I’d pay to get rid of both. But the fleeting bit of class that Nani shows is still better than the dross which Young serves up when he gets on the park. I’m sure THAT goal at Stoke was supposed to be a backpass to Evra – Young’s favourite ‘trick’.
There’s no escaping the fact that there is some dead wood at Manchester United which needs taking off the wage bill ASAP.
Hopefully David Moyes can oversee this. Although we can’t expect too much from the winter window Manchester United look desperate to splash the cash. They will have to do better than Fellaini this time round.
Returning to the weekend action, expect a win for Manchester United, but don’t put any money on it, for god’s sake! Under Fergie the home win was a huge cash cow for those of us who like a flutter. Under Moyes nothing is guaranteed – save for the odd grammatical error in his interviews.
Seriously though, we like Moyes the man, and wish him all the best for 2014. We are still hopeful that he can show that he’s the man for the job.
