Tottenham: Willian, Moutinho and tonight’s team news.

Spurs’ Belgian genius is still sidelined

Various reports today suggest that Tottenham may lose out if they continue to pursue two of their summer targets.

After helping to down Chelsea on Tuesday, Shaktar Donetsk star Willian name checked Chelsea , as one of the clubs that interests him.

‘I would like to move from Shakhtar, my work here is complete. I would like to play in a big team in a big tournament, like the Premier League or Serie A. I like Chelsea, AC Milan and Inter.’

Meanwhile, The Daily Mail reckons that PSG will outbid Tottenham for Joao Moutinho in the winter window. Whether the player wants to go to France to play his football depends on whether he is moving for football or financial reasons. We shall see.

Closer to reality but further from home, Tottenham have travelled to Slovenia to take on Maribor tonight, with several notable absentees. Gareth Bale continues to tend to his newborn, while Emmanuel Adebayor has a slight back problem. Assou-Ekotto, Younes Kaboul, Moussa Dembele and Scott Parker are also missing from the squad. All these injuries have left AVB cautious.

“I think these two games with Maribor is (sic) going to be the decisive point of the group phase,”

“A point will not be a bad result as it will keep us tight with Maribor. Lazio can escape if they beat Panathinaikos.”

It’s difficult to know what to expect from Tottenham tonight with any outcome possible. We think that it will be a draw or a sneaky away win. You can get odds on the draw of 5/2 or the away win at 8/11 with William Hill.
