What the media is saying about Manchester United’s potential double signing

Many Manchester United fans are concerned that Louis van Gaal won’t have the proper preparation time to sign the right players this summer, due to his commitments at The World Cup with the Dutch national side.

If Holland do progress to the latter stages of The World Cup then Van Gaal may not take up his post at Manchester United until mid to late July.

The one advantage that Van Gaal does have is that he is working at close quarters with a Dutch national squad which includes some reported targets for Manchester United.

Various reports of late have suggested that Jordy Clasie and Bruno Martins Indi could become Manchester United players before the new season.

Clasie is a 22 year old creative midfielder from Feyenoord who looks as if he has the potential to be a really top player. His team mate with club and country, Bruno Martins Indi, is also 22 and can fill in at left or centre back. They have both broken into the Dutch national squad in the last two years and look set for a long stay with Holland.

So let’s see what the media has been saying of late about these two:

The Mirror

Louis van Gaal will tread a delicate political line to target two of the brightest young talents in his Holland World Cup squad for Manchester United.

The Dutchman wants to bring Feyenoord pair Jordy Clasie and towering centre half Bruno Martins Indi with him, when he arrives at Old Trafford after the tournament in Brazil.

The Express

Holland coach Van Gaal introduced midfielder Clasie and central defender Indi Martins – both 22 – to the Dutch international team in the last two years and they played a big part in securing qualification for Brazil.

Now Van Gaal is understood to want to bring them to Old Trafford to help him launch his era as United manager which will offically start in July when the World Cup is over.

He is apparently not interested in two of his predecessor David Moyes’ targets, Toni Kroos and Cesc Fabregas.

The Guardian

Feyenoord’s captain Jordy Clasie and defender Bruno Martins Indi will be the first pair involved in the inevitable intellectual donnybrook that reduces half of the Stretford End to rubble.

Van Gaal is believed to be ready to stick with what he knows by chasing Dutch duo Jordy Clasie and Bruno Martins Indi,

The Telegraph

While Robin van Persie’s first-half goal – a perfectly-executed chest-trap and volley – was the highlight of the game, the pass from midfielder Jordy Clasie which created the strike was just as eye-catching.

The Metro:

Clasie will bolster United’s midfield options and add much-needed creativity for the club’s forwards such as Robin van Persie.

The fact that Clasie provided, in the words of RVP, a ‘world-class’ pass to the striker in Holland’s friendly against Ecuador at the weekend shows that the youngster already has a great understanding with one of the key men at United.
