Hammer Blow for Chelsea

With Chelsea so far ahead of the rest in the race for The Premier League it might not make too much difference. But Blues boss Jose Mourinho confirmed Friday that Diego Costa could miss half of the remaining games this season, as he recovers from the latest set back to his hamstring, suffered just a few minutes after coming on the park against Stoke last weekend.

The Chelsea boss said:

‘If he plays three it’s a little bit below what I’m expecting. If he plays five it’s more than I’m expecting.’

and Mourinho stated that the player won’t even come into his thoughts for the next few weeks:

‘At this moment I don’t want to think of him (Costa) for two, three weeks.’

Costa has been Chelsea’s talisman this season with almost as many goals as he has had starts in The Premier League (19 in 23). His goal output has waned somewhat of late but this could well be down, in part at least, to his persistent injury problems.

You have to imagine that a long summer of rest, followed by a specialised training regime might put the problem to bed once and for all. Perhaps he should take a leaf out of Rio Ferdinand’s book and try some yoga.

Let’s see Diego banging in the goals for Chelsea. Blues fans: will this make a difference to the title charge?
