Arsenal have already turned their attention towards finding a replacement for Alexis Sanchez as the Chilean’s contract runs down.
The Sun report that they are lining up a £35million bid for in-demand Wilfried Zaha of Crystal Palace, though that is likely to spark a tug-of-war with north London rivals Tottenham for the Ivorian.
Despite Palace’s woes this season, the 25-year-old has scored two goals in five games and has been especially impressive since Roy Hodgson took over from Frank de Boer.
The Eagles are adamant that the former Manchester United attacker is not for sale, but realistically it’s going to be very difficult for them to keep hold of him if a top six club comes calling in January.
The other alternative Arsenal are considering, Porto’s Yacine Brahimi, is not proven in English football, which makes Zaha all the more appealing.
If they do land him, it will no doubt irk Mauricio Pochettino, as the Spurs boss has been monitoring him for far longer.
