Manchester United already seem resigned to losing David de Gea to Real Madrid.
Los Blancos have already tried to sign him once in the past, and ever since that deal fell through at the last minute, the Spain international has been linked with the Bernabeu.
However, the Mirror claim that Jose Mourinho has told the stopper to remain focused on the rest of United’s season for now, and then he will be granted talks over his future.
That should go without saying, but the 26-year-old has seemingly lacked concentration in recent weeks.
Mourinho does not want to keep players against their will, and Madrid-born De Gea may well be tempted by the prospect of playing for the European champions – especially if the Red Devils fail to make it into the Champions League.
Real will have to offer a world-record fee for a goalkeeper, easily eclipsing the £32million Parma received from Juventus for Gianluigi Buffon in 2001.
De Gea is under contract until 2020, but United accept that there is a strong possibility he will finally move back to La Liga when the opportunity presents itself.
