Man United suffer yet another injury setback

It’s fair to say the fixture schedule has not been kind to Manchester United.

The Red Devils play again on Sunday less than 72 hours after their goalless draw against Manchester City.

To make matters worse for Jose Mourinho, injuries continue to wreak havoc with his squad. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcos Rojo both suffered serious knee injuries in the Europa League against Anderlecht last week, and they will now be joined in the treatment room by Timothy Fosu-Mensah.

The 19-year-old came on in the 86th minute of the Manchester derby to shore up the defence following Marouane Fellaini’s needless red card for a headbutt on Sergio Aguero.

As reported in the Mirror, it’s feared Fosu-Mensah has dislocated his shoulder having fallen awkwardly.

Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, and James Wilson are also out, leaving Mourinho with a major headache for this weekend’s game against Swansea.

The manager will no doubt be criticised for his defensive tactics at the Etihad, but at this stage of the season results are the only thing that matter – and he can hardly be blamed for encouraging his team to sit back given how many players he is without.
