Arsene Wenger suggests when the title could be decided

Arsenal sit just three points off the top of the Premier League table going into the midweek games.

With Chelsea on 37 points, Arsene Wenger’s side have amassed 34, leaving them in a fine position ahead of a crucial Christmas period.

The Gunners have four games to play before the end of the year, facing Everton, Manchester City, West Brom, and Crystal Palace.

Unsurprisingly, Wenger thinks the next few weeks could therefore be make or break for his team’s title ambitions.

“Of course a title challenge can be made or derailed in this period,” he told reporters.

“When you look at the teams around us, you can see that the margin of difference between the teams has shrunk a lot.

“The way you respond in every single game is absolutely vital. It’s a very important period where everybody has to be absolutely focused on our results and the way we want to play.”

Arsenal did well to come out of November relatively unscathed, as it is the month when they typically start to tail off.

Their ability to win from losing positions has held them in good stead, and they were forced to do just that once again at the weekend as they beat Stoke 3-1 at the Emirates.

On paper, Arsenal should be massive favourites to beat out-of-form Everton, but trips to Goodison Park are never easy, with Wenger adding:

“I don’t know (how many points will win the title). We go to Everton tomorrow. Let’s focus on that and try to win the game. Win the next game in football is all you can do.

“What is for sure is that every game is like a cup final for everyone. We just came out of a game and we were 1-0 down and we came back for the sixth time this season.”
