Oxlade-Chamberlain left frustrated by Wenger claim

Oxlade-Chamberlain

It’s hard to think what more Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could do to impress Arsene Wenger.

The midfielder has scored six goals and assisted another six this season, despite his manager’s ongoing suggestions that he has not lived up to his potential.

The 23-year-old has only been given a full 90 minutes once all campaign, and it seems that, understandably, he is getting a little frustrated.

Having helped Arsenal to a 3-1 win over Stoke at the weekend, he was substituted with 20 minutes to go, and you get the feeling this wasn’t a gesture from Wenger to give the England international a standing ovation.

According to the Mirror, the Ox is now bewildered by Wenger’s treatment, with the Frenchman suggesting after the Stoke game that talks had begun over a new contract.

On the contrary, no approach has been made to the England international’s representatives, so Chamberlain has been left confused as to why his manager would say that.

The former Southampton starlet has just 18 months left on his current deal, so it’s about time the Gunners started to tie him down if they have any interest in keeping him.

It seems the ongoing talks with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are taking precedent, however, and that could mean that lesser names like Chamberlain go under the radar.
