Jesse Lingard making one huge demand in new United contract

Jesse Lingard is in danger of shooting himself in the foot as he continues to stall over a new contract.

The Manchester United starlet is believed to have no intention of leaving Old Trafford, but according to the Daily Mirror, he is still demanding more than the £60,000 a week he’s being offered.

Incredibly, as he’s currently on £30,000, the club have essentially offered to double his wages, but he’s holding out for more.

Paul Pogba reportedly came unstuck when he took that line under Sir Alex Ferguson, and he was subsequently sold to Juventus.

Lingard may feel he’s proven his worth by scoring the winning goal in the FA Cup final, but the 23-year-old’s representatives don’t feel he’s being recognised enough by the salary on offer.

The club’s biggest stars Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Pogba, and Wayne Rooney all earn over £200,000 a week, and while he’s not asking to match them, Lingard’s agents want him on closer to £100,000.

Ultimately, either the club or the player himself are going to have to blink first, and it seems more likely it’ll have to be the latter.
