The question no longer seems to be whether Morgan Schneiderlin will leave Manchester United, but when and where his next destination will be.
According to the Sun, the two Premier League clubs most interested in the midfielder are Everton and West Brom, with both set to make their move in January.
Given that he’s likely to cost around £20million – as United don’t want to lose too much of the fee they paid Southampton a year ago – that surely makes Everton favourites, particularly as they are on the hunt for a long-term replacement for veteran Gareth Barry.
Ronald Koeman will be looking to strengthen having seen the Blues go three games without a win, that run including a 5-0 thrashing at Chelsea.
Schneiderlin could be exactly the man to deliver the solidity they need, as even if the arrival of Paul Pogba has kept him out of United’s starting XI, he more than demonstrated his ability during his time at St Mary’s.
It says it all that Jose Mourinho put on Bastian Schweinsteiger over the France international against West Ham in midweek, and it may be that they’ve in fact swapped places as the United player most firmly out in the cold.
