Marcus Rashford has given himself every chance of starting in the Manchester derby with a superb hat-trick for England’s under-21 side against Norway.
The Young Lions ran out 6-1 winners, helped along the way by the Manchester United starlet’s fine trio of goals in front of a visibly impressed Sam Allardyce.
It is Jose Mourinho he will have most been hoping to impress, however, as he looks for a start in Saturday’s Premier League game against City – a match he scored the winner in last season.
Many England fans will have been surprised to see the 18-year-old starting for the under-21s at all as he has already made his senior debut for the national side, scoring on his debut and one of the few players to impress under Roy Hodgson at Euro 2016.
Take a look at his hat-trick here – a well-taken first goal, a beautiful chip, and a penalty for the final strike.
It’s likely he may start on the bench this weekend, but if United aren’t in control, there’s every chance it will be Rashford who Mourinho turns to to change the game.
