Police concerned by Mourinho and Guardiola’s rivalry

Policing the Manchester derby cannot be a fun job for anyone.

Even as rivalries go, they don’t come much more heated than this one, and with United and City both expected to challenge for the title, there’s too much riding on Saturday’s meeting for it to be a mellow affair.

As always, Greater Manchester Manchester police are expected to ramp up security at the game due to concerns about fan behaviour.

And according to the Daily Mail, officers are going to be briefed about the two new managers in the dugout, Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola, because of the pair’s rivalry.

While it’s not thought that they’re going to come to blows, although knowing these two it can’t be ruled out, police are concerned that their long-standing hatred of one another could intensify the game for the fans.

Tensions are going to be running high at Old Trafford as the pair prepare to meet for the first time in English football.

The police won’t be drafting any more officers because of the situation, but they have been made aware that this is set to be one of the craziest derbies in living memory.
