Nicky Butt compares Marcus Rashford to Premier League legend

Marcus Rashford just isn’t going away.

The 18-year-old sensation hit the headlines again with a hat-trick for England’s under-21s against Norway, and that has all but confirmed that he’s ready for the senior side.

Jose Mourinho will seriously have to consider making him a regular starter in the Premier League too, and former Manchester United hero Nicky Butt has now compared him to one of the league’s greatest strikers.

Asked if he saw a resemblance between Rashford and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry, Butt told the Times:

“Yes. Blistering pace. When Marcus runs at you, you can’t stop him.”

That is quite the comparison, but if the striker continues at his current pace, there’s no reason why he can’t cement himself in Premier League folklore just like Henry did.

Butt has been instrumental in the starlet’s development as Head of the Academy, and he is also a man who knows all too well that it’s possible to climb the ranks at Old Trafford.

And while United will have no plans to cash in on Rashford, Butt admitted that if he can replicate his form from last season again in the current campaign, “he’s a £50million player”.
